Applecross and Vincent Motorbikes

On Saturday, Ian and Andy went over to Applecross to see a British motorbike (Vincent) rally. The weather was kind and the route over the mountain and its hairpin bends was brilliant.

They met a couple on a Vincent Black Shadow at the end of the Applecross road and found out that the main meeting place was at the campsite, here we saw about 20 old Vincents, probably now worth about 20k each. In their day they were the superbike of the 50's and most of the bikes were 55 years old.

A lovely ride ended a great day in Wester Ross, pictures of Vincent's on the campsite and their owners looking at our modern bikes, Ian's is a V-twin and Andy's now got a Triumph so both got a thumbs up/

White tailed sea eagle

Not the best quality photo's but zoom in to see this young bird we saw today. The blue tag is numbered for tracking purposes.

Stornaway trip

Leaving Ullapool on the morning ferry to Lewis.
Passing the Summer Isles.

Looking north to Suilven.
Accompanied by friends from Southport, Margaret & Eileen, took the ferry to Stornaway on the Isle of Lewis. If you go as foot passengers & stay on the ferry it only costs £14-50p for the round trip -good value for 6 hours cruising.
Saw a porpoise, 2 dolphins, a seal, gannets, various auks & other birds. Great way to spend a day.
