Tollie path round

Loch Maree in all her beauty

Info board at Slatterdale car park.

A pair of newborns at Kerrysdale. On our way back from a 19mile run. Margot, Anna & Andy doing our last long run before the Edinburgh marathon on 23rd May. We watched the London marathon before we set off today, hoping the inspiration would help us to do well. Must have worked as we all finished feeling strong.
Just a reminder, http://www.justgiving.com/TheJamster Fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Care. Thanks in anticipation.

Tollie path round

Onward & upward, we tackle the 19 mile, 1000ft ascent.
Heading down towards Loch Maree & her islands.

Slioch, dominating the landscape beyond loch Maree

Last, long, pre-Edinburgh marathon run

Noon & we're off, up the hill towards the Tollie path. Occasional stops to check out the local wildlife.
Still some snow on the mountain tops but the day is perfect for a long run. Past Loch Tollie.

Through the deer fence & in to the wilderness.

Spring events in Wester Ross

One of the naval vessels stooging around during the NATO exercise-just passing Skye, headed south in the Minch.
Jimjams enjoying the sunshine this evening, following the snow & hailstorms we've had for the last 2 days.

It might look springlike, but it's below 0c every night at the moment. Can't do much gardening but Andy's busy laying flagstones.

Kayak trip

As Andy got home early from work today, we decided to go for a kayak trip. Launched from the slipway near the harbour & set off south towards Shieldaig bay.
Crossing Kerry bay, Baosbheinn in the distance.

If you enlarge this one, there's a seal under the red hull (below the 2nd right tyre).

Arriving back at the harbour ready for tea!

Highlander Mountain Marathon

Prizegiving.

The High School was the event centre this w/end & the race was in the surrounding area. Started at Slattadale on Saturday morning, overnight camp near Sheildaig lodge & Sunday's effort was in the hills between the western end of Loch Maree & the A832 Slattadale to Tollie path above Poolewe.

A pair of runners coming in on Sunday lunchtime. The event was blessed with superb weather throughout - only drawback was a moorland fire, producing thick smoke which would have made the going more tough than it already was.

Work continues on the shed

Easter Sunday dawns bright & clear. Margot's off to work at the Millcroft, Andy & Jimjams are busy at home.
Roof felt going on this afternoon.

Looking tidier as the day progresses,

Doors on & almost weatherproof for the storms we are forecast the next couple of days.

The shed goes up at last

3pm, it's taking shape, I've lost 2 washing lines & the rain's held off so far...........
Famous last words, 5-15pm, the rain's come & Martin's directing operations.

An hour later the roof's on & the men have gone home, wet & tired. Big thanks to them all, a great effort.
They've christened it "The fallout shelter", work it out.....................

The shed goes up at last

The shed's been waiting to be built since December, but it's snowed ever since it arrived. Today's the day. Andy's prepared the base & this is how it was at 9am this morning.

After a morning at the boat club, helping with one of the rescue boats, work got underway & the floor waas down by 2pm.

Half an hour later, the back wall was up.

Walk at Carr Point

Andy amusing Birdie, Chilli & Jimjams at Carr Point yesterday.
Baosbheinn looking rather cold in the distance.

Hailstorm crossing the local hills.

Wierd weather

A particularly, low tide on Wednesday showing the extent of the sand along the coast at Strath.
A naughty sheep on the school playing field with a couple of greylags. The white of the running track is snow!

Edinburgh Marathon

Hi blog readers,
Most of you will have gathered that Andy & I are running the Edinburgh Marathon on 23rd May. We're doing it in aid of Macmillan Cancercare, in recognition of their support when we needed it last year & would be delighted if any of you would be kind enough to donate on our "Just giving" page. http://www.justgiving.com/TheJamster
Many thanks in anticipation.
