Tollie, a guest

Chilly Thursday

Took Tollie to Laide today to meet Penny. Walked in the woods & they enjoyed each other's company whilst Jamilla did her own thing. Snow on the high tops making beautiful views & once again, we're pinching ourselves!
Andy cleared the moss off the roof & Margot swept up the fallen leaves.

Winter's arrived

Awoke to snow this morning, lovely & bright. Took a walk up the trail from the Shieldaig Lodge & enjoyed the views in between snow & sleet showers.

S'no joke living here

Wild weather

At last, the wind has abated & winter has arrived. Seems quiet without the wind howling all around & we've escaped with less damage than some. Lots of dislodged roof tiles around but all we suffered was the fence screening becoming dislodged & having to be out in the worst of it to re-attach it to the fence.

A walk up Flowerdale today with Geraldine & Karen, plus Chilli & Sasha as well as the infamous Jamilla, of course. A severe hail storm at one point stopped us in our tracks but otherwise, a lovely walk, superb autumn colours & fast flowing burns (streams) made it a memorable one.

Later, Andy helped "Downie does it" to secure a roof problem at the "Millie" & the darkest night of the year (for us) so far, isn't such a bad one after all.

We find out that Michelle has survived the horrors of the OMM in Cumbria & peace descends upon our rural idyll.

The wind & the sea

Friday was another stormy day, quite exciting when you can stand upright & enjoy it. Took Jamilla & Chilli to Flowerdale for a lovely walk in the autumn colours. Met Tollie -Carol's Springer spaniel puppy. Jamilla accepted him ok & Chilli had a good play with him, so they all went home tired & happy.

Lull between the Gales

We had very strong winds yesterday, no damage but we had to fix the windbreak mesh on the fence as it was starting to blow off, after ripping out the staples and tywraps from the posts. I was a wet and muddy job but at least it happened during the afternoon. Too windy for a dog walk or the normal Jog Scotland run we do on a Thursday.

We watched our big lounge window flex with the gusts of wind, never had this in Southport, but I guess its normal here, storm force 10 -11 (60+ MPH), one part of the village lost power as power lines came down.

Andy cycled down to the village this morning after a big storm had passed over from Skye and the forecast is for more storms later so it will probably be an inside jobs day again.

We hope the new blog is OK, cheers for now

Wet and Windy Thursday

Today's view

We have strong winds and rain and
the stream is running well. Not a day for a hill walk as gusts of 100mph forecast.

The garden will have to wait but some inside jobs will get done once Alyson brings our mail and the Argos delivery arrives.

Wednesday 22/10/08

Try out this new blog again, seems pretty straight forward. Margot been to work am & walk Penny pm, superb waves over at Laide. The gull had been dozing on the rock & was engulfed by the previous wave! Andy still hard at it in the garden, helped by Jamilla.
